As Senior Financial Accountant, you’ll support the Financial Controller and Head of Finance in delivering commercial insights and ensuring strong financial governance. Your work will directly influence strategic decisions and operational excellence across the firm.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with local and international standards
  • Conduct general ledger reconciliations and ensure financial data accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations including GST, PAYG, WHT, Payment Times Reporting, and corporate tax
  • Lead the Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) process, including data collection, calculation, lodgement, and compliance
  • Support bi-annual bank covenant reporting in accordance with facility agreements
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and reviews
  • Collaborate with department heads on budgeting and forecasting
  • Provide commercial support through financial analysis and reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations
  • Mentor and support junior finance team members

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 2+ years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within legal or professional services
  • CPA or CA qualification is essential
  • Demonstrated expertise in Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) compliance and reporting
  • Strong knowledge of Australian and International accounting standards and tax legislation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and customer-focused approach
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a virtual team
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new systems and tools
