Reporting directly to the Controller, you'll be instrumental in managing a comprehensive range of financial accounting duties, contributing directly to our strategic decision-making. Responsibilities:    * Financial Reporting: Timely and accurate preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. * Optimized Close Processes: Orchestrate efficient month-end and year-end closing processes. Identify opportunities to integrate automation for journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis, significantly reducing manual effort and accelerating the close cycle. * General Ledger Management: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.  You'll investigate and implement AI-driven solutions for transaction matching and anomaly detection to enhance accuracy and reduce reconciliation time. * Audit & Compliance: Serve as a key contact for external auditors, preparing schedules and providing necessary support. Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.  Manage foreign sales tax on transactions outside of Ontario. * Proactive Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve the efficiency of the financial reporting cycle. You'll be empowered to recommend and integrate new technologies. * Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Provide guidance and support to other accounting staff fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technological adoption within the team. REQUIREMENTS:    * Certification: CPA designation * Experience: Minimum 4 years of accounting experience  * Technical Skills:  * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, with a demonstrated ability to create complex models and automate tasks. * Strong command of accounting software and ERP systems. * Solid understanding of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE). * Familiarity with data analytics tools and a keen interest in exploring AI/ML applications for financial processes. * Soft Skills:  * Research and Analysis * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information clearly. * A strong team-player mindset with an unwavering commitment to internal customer service. * Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing tight deadlines and multiple, evolving priorities. * Proactive problem-solving abilities and a resourceful approach to challenges. * High adaptability and a demonstrated capacity for quick learning, particularly with new technologies. * Superior organizational and time management skills. * Uncompromising quality orientation and a strong sense of accountability and dependability. * Advanced research and analytical capabilities, with a desire to leverage data for strategic insights.
