The Company

A large, well-established New Zealand business operating across multiple divisions with a significant asset base and long-term stability. Privately owned and purpose-driven, with a collaborative finance team based in East Tamaki. This is a genuinely senior seat, positioned as 2IC to the Accounting Manager, with a direct report and real ownership of the group's financial accounting function.

The Role

A hands-on, technically demanding position where you'll own the financial accounting function and run it largely independently across a complex multi-entity group:

• Lead end-to-end month-end and year-end close across multiple entities
• Own and govern the balance sheet including lease accounting under IFRS 16
• Prepare annual financial statements and manage the external audit process
• Full NZ tax compliance; GST, FBT, RWT, and income tax
• Group consolidation and financial reporting
• Supervise and develop one direct report

Your Profile

Ideally, you've done your time in Big 4 or mid-tier and have followed that up with a year or two in a commercial environment, you know the technical side and you're ready to apply it at scale

• CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent) essential
• Experience in a large, complex business or group structure
• Strong NZ tax knowledge across GST, FBT, and income tax
• Advanced Excel; with an improvement and automation mindset
• Large ERP experience an advantage
• Resilient, curious, and a genuine team player
