POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Financial Analyst, Business Development & Revenue (BD&R), is a key support to the Lead, BD&R, with an indirect reporting relationship to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to ensure alignment with the broader organization’s financial policies and processes.
The Senior Financial Analyst (BD&R) manages the financial operations of the BD&R portfolio and works closely with cross-functional teams within the organization to optimize existing revenue generating opportunities, ensure appropriate financial due diligence in evaluating, implementing, and monitoring new revenue generating opportunities, and support required budgeting and financial operational processes.
The incumbent brings critical subject matter expertise related to revenue and profit analysis and is a leader within the BD&R and broader Finance team in planning, coaching, development, implementation, and evaluation to help develop a strong team dynamic. This role is pivotal in providing support for critical decisions for senior management both in the short-term and long-term planning and allocation of resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline (Essential)
  • Master’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or related discipline (Preferred)
  • Professional accounting designation (CA, CPA, CMA, CGA, CFA) (Preferred)
  • Five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in financial forecasting and modelling (return on investment, net present value) (Essential)
  • Experience in health care (Preferred)
  • Detailed-oriented, strong analytical, organizational and time management skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency with computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Essential)
  • Communicate effectively and concisely, translating complex technical concepts into easily understandable language for non-technical audience (Essential)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish and nurture relationships (Essential)
  • Proactive in seeking information, improvements and efficiencies (Essential)
  • Previous experience with Workday (our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)) (Preferred)
  • May be required to sign other documents such as Code of Conduct and policies pursuant to hospital policy and as need arises (Essential)
  • Complete mandatory training and refreshers within designated timeframes (Essential)

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain high quality, robust assessments of profitability and risk for new and existing revenue generation opportunities using best practices in financial forecasting and scenario modelling.
  • Use subject matter expertise to model financial scenarios to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Assist the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and broader FP&A team on annual budget development and matters related to revenue generation and profit.
  • Establish, document, and communicate standards and procedures in alignment with annual operating plan and budget processes.
  • Create, manage and execute monitoring and reporting on the performance of revenue generating activities versus plan. Assess financial risk, perform benchmarking, make recommendations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to the corporate annual operating plan and budget process, in collaboration with the FP&A team.
  • Work with the FP&A team to assess and enhance the management reporting tools and processes to include revenue and profit where relevant to ensure organizational fiscal responsibility.
  • Ensure the structure and integrity of data stored for reporting purposes.
  • Lead projects with a vision to improve automation and efficiencies of processes.
  • Develop tools and advise on financial tools and approaches to profit and revenue generation to improve the financial competencies of leaders across the organization.
  • Build and nurture internal relationships with clinical and operational leaders, as well as external experts and partners in revenue generation.
  • Provide guidance to clinical and operational leaders in financial forecasting, scenario modeling, and financial risk mitigation for specific department initiatives related to revenue.
  • Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
