Title: Senior Financial Analyst
Reporting to: Corporate Controller

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation (or progress toward it) is highly preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in similar role, preferably in construction, real estate development, or manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of HST compliance and related reporting.
  • Proficiency with ERP software, and advanced level of Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent relationship building with a strong customer focus and a collaborative working style.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Results oriented with ability to set realistic and attainable goals and meet those on time.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated experience of process improvement and financial system optimization.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly packages of financial results and supporting analysis, including financial and operating results (with variance to budget analysis), balance sheet review and analysis, cash flow forecast, and participate in initiatives including cost modeling and variance explanations.
  • Review and analyze key balance sheet accounts, ensuring proper treatment of inventory, job costs, and overhead.
  • Conduct quarterly balance sheet reviews, including reconciliation of intercompany loan balances.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any outstanding items in a timely manner.
  • Assist in managing working capital requirements and optimizing cash flow operations and related forecasting.
  • Assist with compliance accounting and financial reporting requirements for both the manufacturing and corporate entities, including bank covenant reporting, and coordination with external accountants with respect to year-end financial statement and income tax reporting.
  • Understand and analyze the key drivers of business and operational success.
  • Assist the Accounting team on supplier payment processing, ensuring alignment with project and operational timelines.
  • Prepare and distribute regular summary reporting for co-brokerage fees.
  • Review and/or prepare HST filings for accuracy prior to submission and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Draft responses to CRA audit inquiries
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable aging reports, identifying and escalating overdue balances or discrepancies.
  • Assist in preparing responses to external inquiries and assist during audit fieldwork.
  • Collaborate with other members of accounting team to investigate and resolve accounting issues, escalating complex matters when necessary.
  • Lead or participate in initiatives to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and system efficiencies across both construction and manufacturing operations.
