Description The Controller's Office Senior Financial Analyst position has varying responsibilities depending on the area into which the position reports. Duties include: Actively leads efforts in the achievement of departmental goals and objectives. Performs routine and complex accounting activities requiring knowledge of systems, independent judgment, and ability to respond accordingly. Work is reliable and provides solid support for reviewer consideration and coaching. Meets established deadlines for task completion. Effectively establishes priorities. Takes initiative and responsibility for getting things done; demonstrates proactivity and follows through to completion. Evaluates different sources of information and reconciles conflicts between the sources. Builds collaborative relationships with customers and peers throughout all levels of finance staff. Transfers knowledge from one situation to another. Demonstrates relevant research skills to support transaction issues and resolution. Recommends resolution and takes action without supervision. Presents work environment concerns/issues directly with supervisors instead of co-workers and recommends solution. Works to enhance team performance. Shares information and resources to assist others and helps others succeed. Provides clear and effective communication to internal and external customers on problems, issues, and resolution. Assists in special projects as needed. Assists in creating and promoting strong internal control processes within the department and division. Works directly with Controller's Office leadership in completing accounting functions and assisting with on-going finance initiatives and goals. Performs other related duties as required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates major financial reporting and budgeting activities. Ensures compliance with regulations and reporting requirements. Coordinates the correction of account balances, resolves funding issues and maintains proper accounting controls and procedures. Makes recommendations to management related to long-range financial and cash flow analyses. Prepares and analyzes statistical and financial reports, financial statements and supporting schedules. May assist in preparing, developing and monitoring department/organizational budgets. May maintain grant agreements, policies and guidelines; coordinate grant reporting requirements; review grant funding source compliance; and negotiate grant funding with awarding agencies. May perform indirect cost analysis. May hire, train, and supervise a small staff. Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance or a related field and four years of financial analyst or accounting experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
