Description:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Controller and is responsible for reconciling key account balances, maintaining the general ledger, and completing month-end close procedures while maintaining accuracy in all accounting tasks as well as preparing ad hoc financial reports and other financial analyses to assist management with decision-making and achieving the company’s strategic goals.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist with month-end close procedures by preparing monthly financial statements and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts;
- Liaise with the audit team and assist with year-end close procedures for the fiscal audit;
- Prepare monthly HST filings and WSIB remittance calculations;
- Review and address anomalies for month-end accruals, stale dated cheques, direct hire, and agency overtime, among other accounting anomalies that may arise;
- Prepare financial budget, variance, cash flows, and forecasting analysis by utilizing ad-hoc models and other methods;
- Create dashboards for stakeholders, update daily based on identified Key Performance Indicators (KPI), to be added to the internal accounting processes allowing KPIs to be captured and monitored;
- Oversee and perform billing and payroll audits to ensure accuracy and completion in a timely manner;
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, including asset depreciation, acquisitions, and disposals;
- Develop recommendations to improve accounting procedures and processes;
- Build and sustain strong and collaborative relationships with all departments; and
- Perform all other jobs and responsibilities that may be required to achieve the company’s objectives.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Transportation/Logistics experience is an asset
- Adept in financial reporting
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Advanced critical thinking skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong teamwork and ability to work independently
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or Business
- CPA designation or equivalent
