KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of:

  • Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) standards and tangible capital asset accounting

  • GNWT financial systems, internal controls, and compliance standards
  • Auditing concepts and database/software tools (Excel, MS Word, accounting systems)

  • Financial analysis, planning, budgeting, and compliance review
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication
  • Training delivery, report writing, and collaboration across departments
  • Practicing diversity, inclusion, cultural awareness, and workplace sensitivity

Education & Experience:

  • Completion of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) core modules and current enrollment in elective modules
  • Minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, including:
  • Holding a CPA designation within one (1) year
  • Minimum of four (4) years directly related experience
Responsibilities
  • Analyze financial data, forecasts, and reports to support departmental decision-making.
  • Maintain and report on tangible capital assets, including reconciliations and amortization.
  • Provide financial support for departmental programs and manage Fund 3 and third-party projects.
  • Conduct compliance reviews and risk assessments to ensure adherence to GNWT policies.
  • Monitor internal controls and recommend improvements to financial procedures.
  • Lead financial training sessions and maintain up-to-date procedure manuals.
  • Collaborate with senior management and internal stakeholders on financial planning and reporting.
