POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the VP of Finance & Accounting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, compiling, and preparing financial reports; providing meaningful and concise variance analysis of actual performance compared to plans, forecasts and prior periods; compilation of information from functional groups to consolidate and analyze for presentation of the long-range financial plan and forecasts. Responsible for identifying existing trends and monitoring changes over time.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in financial accounting, financial planning, finance, or other related experience.
  • Skilled at extracting data and analyzing and translating complex information into concise, useful reports.
  • Technical knowledge of GAAP preferred.
  • Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills.
  • SQL report writing experience preferred.
  • Strong word processing, e-mail and presentation software skills and aptitude to effectively use proprietary and database software.
  • Construction background preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and excellent judgement to handle sensitive and confidential information and interactions.
  • Strong leadership, communication skills and work ethic.
  • Deadline oriented self-starter with the ability to move projects forward independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse business groups and individuals, including senior level executives.
  • Meticulous attention to details and accuracy.
  • Flexible outlook toward task management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Mathematic Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling.
  • Leads the compilation, consolidation, and analysis of company financial reports for forecasts and the long-range financial plan.
  • Variance Analysis (routine and ad hoc).
  • Analyze and interpret financial results and operational performance measures.
  • Assist with the coordination, preparation, and reporting for the annual budget.
  • Provide a critical level of support on general special projects, financial analysis, problem resolution and other business/financial analysis related needs that affect the Company.
  • Prepare materials for senior executives.
  • Frequent communication with all levels of management to support analysis, data collection issue resolution and requests.
  • Prepare for and support year-end financial statement audit activities.
  • Support the Division Controllers with special projects.
  • Provides technical leadership to F&A staff.
  • Provides technical input to assist in development of project planning.
  • Make recommendations to increase operational efficiency and accuracy.
