JOB SUMMARY

Payscale is looking for the newest member of its Finance team. We are a $200m ARR, highly profitable, SaaS company that needs a smart, motivated, rigorous, and diligent individual to join our FP&A group. This is a role where you will be “in it” and expected to get your hands dirty every day. You’ll join a team whose leaders have public company (including IPO) experience, who themselves report to a CFO that came up through the ranks of FP&A. Meaning that, the team knows what great looks like, and the bar will be high. We are looking for someone with thick skin who can get things done. If you don’t possess a sense of urgency, drive, and just-get-it-done-ness, this is the wrong role for you. If you are looking for a great environment to 1) learn (or learn more) about a SaaS business, 2) be put into a position where you can make a difference to the business every day, and 3) help drive a multi-hundred-million-dollar company to a successful financial exit in the next few years, then this will be a great role for you. We are looking for individuals who both know and have the capacity to learn.
You will be expected to interview, both technically and for fit, and your references will be checked. While you can be anywhere in the States, please note that the FP&A leadership is located on the West Coast of the United States. If you have read this far and believe that you have the right combination of attitude, aptitude, drive, and integrity, then let’s talk. And here’s the great thing about this role: you’ll be given exposure and responsibilities commensurate with how good your work product is, not necessarily how senior you are. What that means is that if you produce high quality materials and analyses, you’ll get to present them and participate in the decisions made around them.

EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 4+ years of financial analysis experience or a related field. Multiple years of experience in a relevant environment is more important than any specific amount of time. Relevant experience means SaaS/tech, PE or VC backed, and a high intensity environment. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. We do want to see steady progression in your career.
  • Experience in a SaaS business model is a strong positive, but we are ultimately looking for talent and fit
  • Proven track record of success
  • We are a Microsoft shop. Please have excellent Excel skills, or be able to get there fast
  • Please be highly analytical, with a keen eye for detail and a learning mindset.
  • Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Accuracy: you strive for excellence and have great attention to detail.
  • Be ok with working very hard, while being rewarded for it

SKILLS YOU HAVE:

  • Technical: you are proficient in Excel and have used Adaptive Insights in the past (or some sort of FP&A planning tool)
  • Communication: you are great at effectively working with and communicating to the business.
  • Accuracy: you strive for excellence and have great attention to detail.
  • Time management: you understand and are flexible when we need to re-prioritize work based on the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
  • Assist us in building best-in-class financial operations, data accuracy, forecasting capabilities, and actionable analyses
  • Embrace our culture of rigor, discipline, accuracy, consistency, and accountability, both in the FP&A org and across the entire business
  • Work with your teammates, peers, and partners in the business to understand the underlying trends and metrics driving our business and develop ways to influence the direction we are heading
  • Engage in real, robust business partnering to help drive efficiencies, best practices, and optimal risk taking across the business
  • Drive operational improvements throughout all aspects of the business, across all three financial statements
  • Learn our financial reporting tool (Adaptive Insights) and use it in your day-to-day workflows
  • Ad-hoc scenario analysis that drives actionable business changes.
  • Lead your portion of the monthly close process; investigate and resolve issues and then communicate to your peers and partners
  • Help develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives
