POSITION OVERVIEW

AMS is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst to take ownership of our monthly internal and external reporting process, including preparing management reports, variance analysis, and narrative commentary. This role will also support budgeting and forecasting, lead ad-hoc financial analysis, and play a key role in implementing internal controls documentation as part of integration efforts following our recent acquisition by a public company. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with large datasets, has strong accounting knowledge, and is energized by solving business problems through analysis. The individual we are looking for will go beyond the numbers to deliver insights, recommend actions, and help answer the “why” behind the data.

REQUIREMENTS

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Experience and Skills

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience; public accounting experience (e.g., audit or advisory) preferred.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls (experience with SOX or public company compliance is a plus).
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, dynamic formulas).
  • Experience with budgeting/reporting tools preferred (e.g., Planning Maestro, PowerBI, or similar).

Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to utilize business intelligence tools to self-service and explore data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Naturally curious, proactive, and enjoys diving deep into data to tell the story behind the numbers.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIESACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead preparation of monthly internal reporting packages, including detailed variance analysis and MD&A-style commentary.
  • Partner with accounting during month-end to ensure timely availability of data for reporting (note: this role does not own the close itself).
  • Support development and documentation of internal controls and processes in response to public company reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate performance trends and explain business drivers.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process, including the development of reports, templates, and models.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial and operational analyses to support business decisions.
  • Continuously improve reporting processes and identify opportunities for automation or enhancement.
  • Present insights clearly and concisely to Finance leadership and other stakeholders.
