JOB SUMMARY

A FOIA Analyst is responsible for managing and processing requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act. This role involves reviewing, analyzing, and preparing government records for public release while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Must have experience with Purview and be able to consult on best practices.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge of FOIA laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in document review and redaction tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and meet strict deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, Law, Political Science, or related field.
  • Experience working in a government or legal environment.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and FOIA tracking systems.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $72,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

  • Receive, log, and track FOIA requests using case management systems.
  • Review requested documents for responsiveness and applicable exemptions.
  • Redact sensitive or exempt information in accordance with FOIA guidelines.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and legal counsel to gather responsive records.
  • Draft response letters and prepare final response packages.
  • Maintain accurate records of all FOIA activities and correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on FOIA procedures and best practices.
  • Stay updated on FOIA laws, amendments, and case law.
