QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • 5+ years of experience as a Food Safety Coordinator or similar role
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Food Science or related industry
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • SQF/HACCP/GFSI/FSMA/SFCR knowledge is an asset
  • Organized and have a strong attention to details
  • Ability to multi-task
  • This position is based in a professional office setting, with work primarily performed at a desk using a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment.

Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

We are looking for a Senior Food Safety Coordinator to join our Trading Department. The Senior Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. This role is to create and maintain a food safety program to support trading divisions for various food commodities. The successful candidate will have an eye for detail, analytical, a self starter, quick learner, and will be reliable and committed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and maintain the food safety and compliance programs for FSMA (FDA) and SFCR (CFIA), ensuring ongoing regulatory adherence.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory documentation requests, approvals, and filings with government agencies, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Administer and enhance the supplier approval program by coordinating risk assessments and leading monthly meetings with trading divisions.
  • Oversee the tracking and verification of Certificates of Analysis (COAs) to ensure product compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Monitor and interpret new regulatory requirements, providing timely updates and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and manage third-party laboratory testing based on customer requests, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Support traders with technical guidance on regulatory and quality assurance matters for new and existing products.
  • Ensure proper documentation control and record-keeping for all quality and regulatory files.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customer QA inquiries, addressing concerns related to corrective actions, foreign material claims, and compliance issues.
  • Communicate and follow up on customer QA requests, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
