Description

We’re looking for an experienced Payments Risk Analyst based in Belfast to join our Global Risk team. In this role you will independently manage less-defined and more complex risk work while contributing to team projects and operational improvements. This role builds on Analyst I capability by recognising patterns, expanding findings, suggesting solutions, and applying sound judgement with minimal direction.

What you’ll be doing:

Reporting to the Risk Operations Lead, you will be responsible for daily monitoring within multiple risk queues along with various operational tasks including but not limited to:

  • Manage complex transaction, merchant, onboarding, fraud, credit, and compliance cases across risk queues, owning end-to-end assessments using merchant, business, account, transaction, and other risk signals.
  • Apply company, partner, supportability, and restricted-product policies to less-defined reviews with minimal direction, weighing competing factors and making sound decisions with imperfect information.
  • Use reports, risk signals, case trends, operational data, and web-service tools to identify emerging threats, high-risk or suspicious activity, and opportunities for proactive mitigation.
  • Balance portfolio protection and chargeback risk by assessing chargeback likelihood alongside the merchant’s capacity to repay.
  • Resolve compliance violations and complex cases, identify material risks, escalate unresolved issues appropriately, and contribute to resolution and follow-up.
  • Identify recurring issues, control gaps, and risk patterns across tools, workflows, queues, policies, and playbooks, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Produce concise case summaries, findings, recommendations, and decision rationale; maintain accurate documentation and contribute to knowledge material, playbooks, and team learning.
  • Lead complex customer communications and collaborate with Support, FS Merchant Services, Product, risk analysts, and other teams to resolve shared problems.
  • Contribute to incidents, complex reviews, trend investigations, projects, process improvements, and team best practices while prioritising competing work effectively.

What you need to bring:

We are looking for a highly analytical and collaborative professional with experience within a relevant analyst role along with:

  • 2 years of experience in payments, fraud, credit risk, compliance, or financial services operations or related discipline.
  • Exposure to structured workflows, case management, queues, or service-level targets.
  • Experience working with written procedures and maintaining accurate records.
  • Interest in deepening existing knowledge on fraud, credit risk, merchant risk, and payments and suggesting improvements based on said knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Card Scheme rules and regulations
  • Understanding of the full Chargeback flow and process - Understanding chargeback risk timeframes.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets
  • Good conceptual thinking with proven analytic, problem-solving and effective reporting skills
  • Experience managing structured case work with increasing complexity and limited direction.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions based on available information
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
