THE SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER OPPORTUNITY

Okta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its ITP engineering team. This is an opportunity to solve critical security problems. The ideal candidate has experience building, launching, and supporting security products at scale.
You will share our passion and great pride in elegant solutions and will join an engineering team that strongly believes in designing for scale, rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and an iterative process to build high-quality enterprise software. You will demonstrate great aptitude for software engineering excellence and aren’t afraid to be a player-coach.

  • Experience building anomaly detection systems or risk systems is a huge plus.
  • Experience in cloud security, identity, and/or authentication protocols

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:$118,000—$178,000 CAD

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Own and manage the design, development, delivery, and supportability of cloud-native security products - from concept design to final implementation.
  • Cross-group solid collaboration and interpersonal communication skills working with a variety of roles, including engineering, product management, design, support, and documentation
  • Commit to high programming standards by reviewing code and writing unit and functional tests.
  • Experience working with remote teams and individuals while ensuring quality, agility, and velocity
  • Participate in rotations to expeditiously unblock customers and make them successful

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • 3+ years of experience building Java-based web applications
  • Good understanding of design patterns, scalability patterns, security engineering, and object-oriented principles.
  • Experience with one or more UI technologies such as Angular, ReactJS, Backbone, and Vue.
  • Experience working in fast-paced software development teams leveraging continuous integration and deployment practices.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across function
