DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a Senior Gameplay Engineer to join our Immersive Solutions team. Your primary responsibilities will be to understand training material, translate those requirements into Unreal Blueprints that achieve the desired immersive training, and contribute to HTX Labs’ growing catalog of immersive training content. This role works in concert with artists, other Unreal Engineers, Producers, and Product Owners that represent the immersive training customers. You will operate in a fast-paced, agile environment with the opportunity to work on many different types of projects.

SKILLS

  • Experience working in scripting languages for game development.
  • Game engine experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Experience working on multiplayer frameworks/familiarity with Unreal’ s replication system.
  • Familiarity with common game engine subsystems: render pipelines, physics, collisions, scene management.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, Perforce, SVN).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Natural teacher – passion for breaking down complicated scenarios into well-defined, small, and achievable elements.
  • Ability to debug performance issues and determine bottlenecks.
  • Analytical skills to collect, interpret, and analyze data
  • Experience developing tools and reusable systems.
  • Experience prototyping and iterating on features.
  • Expertise in a wide range of technologies

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of the art pipeline: materials, shaders, meshes, UVs, LODs, rendering, animation systems.
  • Understanding of user interface (UI) and user experience (UX)
  • Experience with Perforce Version Control.
  • Experience working on a SCRUM/Agile team.
  • Familiarity with reading and understanding technical documentation (ex. Manuals, schematics, diagrams).
  • Life-long learner and self-starter attitude.
  • Experience working on simulations or training software.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine’s replay system.
  • Experience with using Unreal Engine to develop for Android and iOS.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3+ years of Unreal experience with Blueprints.
  • 5+ years of C++ experience in Unreal Engine.
  • 3+ years of experience with multiplayer in Unreal Engine.|
  • 2+ years of being in a Senior or Lead role
  • Minimum 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience working with Virtual Reality (VR) hardware and VR games/applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related discipline preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
Responsibilities
  • Work with Product Owners to understand and create immersive training content.
  • Create, document, and maintain Unreal Blueprints that provide training and simulations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Artists, Engineers, Producers, and Product Owners.
  • Contribute to common assets and mechanics used across many training simulations.
  • Provide feedback to other engineering teams to improve tooling and client capabilities.
  • Debug erroneous behavior and bugs reported by quality assurance teams and customers.
  • Profile simulation performance and diagnose potential improvements on all platforms.
