JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an engineer to join the World of Warcraft Gameplay team and help shape the future of Azeroth! If you have a passion for games and love collaborating on features that bring our players’ imaginations to life, this role is for you.
Our team tackles some of the most challenging and rewarding technical problems in the industry. As a gameplay engineer, you will have autonomy, responsibility, and tools to tackle these problems head on. We seek a creative engineer who can quickly adapt to new systems, independently learn and solve complex problems in a large code base, while collaborating with partners and integrating existing code for improvements for our players and development team.

You will be responsible for feature development for expansions and major patches, examples include:

  • Riding dragons to explore a dynamic world
  • Character classes and combat to represent every play style
  • Social features that bring our global community together
  • Rewards systems that engage and motivate players

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years of game programming experience and shipped multiple titles
  • Fluency in C++ or C#.
  • Experience with strong data structures, logic, distributed systems, and algorithm skills.
  • Self-motivation and willingness to participate in many areas of game development.
  • Excellent teamwork and communications skills.
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with designers, engineers, and artists to architect medium to large features from concept to delivery to live support.
  • Work with feature production partners to schedule, estimate, and evaluate risks.
  • Improve workflows for development partners.
  • Maintain and enhance existing player experiences.
  • Mentor and guide engineers at all levels.
  • Participate in and contribute to a culture of inclusion and diversity.
