Description KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Director of Terminal Operations, the LAXTEC Senior Gating Operations Manager will provide operational and administrative oversight for the scheduling of assigned assets including common use gates, baggage sort piers, baggage claim devices, and other services. The Senior Gating Operations Manager will be responsible for the slot coordination of baseline flight schedules for all common use gates assigned to LAXTEC by LAWA. S/he will be responsible for the management and development of a Gating and Dispatch Team as well as an ARCC Team to deliver all assigned services on a 24/7 basis. Services are assigned to LAXTEC by LAWA and may be updated from time to time. A list of the current assets LAXTEC will manage include: ii.) assigned common use gates in Terminal 1, Terminal 6, and TBIT; ii.) outbound baggage sort piers in the NBHS make up area and the MSC BHS make up area; and iii.) assigned inbound baggage-claim devices at Terminal 1 and Terminal 6/7 FIS. The Senior Gating Operations Manager will serve as a liaison for the community and will be the central point of contact for all matters related to Gating / Dispatch and the ARCC. S/he will be required to coordinate directly with LAXTEC staff, LAWA Gating staff, LAWA Busing staff, LAWA Terminal Managers, and the airlines to facilitate day-to-day operations and will serve on various committees and working groups as requested. The general responsibilities of the Senior Gating Operations Manager shall include but not limited to: 1. Provide oversight, training, and development of thre Gating / Dispatch Staff and ARCC Staff; 2. Ensure adequate coverage of the Gating / Dispatch Center and ARCC at all times; 3. Develop internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the departments, including the assignment/management of assigned common use assets such as common use gates, baggage sort piers, and inbound baggage-claim devices; 4. Collaborate with LAWA and airline stakeholders to support the development, implementation, and training of all stakeholders on approved procedures for the assignment and use of common use gates and baggage equipment; 5. Manage, support, and/or negotiate LAXTEC gating-related contracts, including vendors, software, and subscriptions; 6. Actively coordinate with the LAWA Gating Operations Manager, LAWA Gating Staff, LAWA Terminal Managers, and the LAWA Bussing Manager, LAXTEC staff, Airlines, and Ground Handling companies to ensure daily operations are aligned; 7. Coordinate with airlines, contractors, maintenance, aircraft ground operations and other stakeholders on gating and baggage system activities; 8. Attend gating meetings, coordinate with airlines and LAWA staff to build consensus on assignment procedures and schedules; 9. Oversee the development of baseline schedules for all assigned gates and baggage sort piers and claim devices and proactively identify conflicts and work collaboratively with impacted stakeholders to develop solutions; 10. Manage daily gating schedules, proactively monitor daily flight activity, identify risks and conflicts, collaborate with LAWA and airlines to develop work around solutions for gate assignment, sort pier assignment and claim device assignment; 11. Respond constructively and professionally to emergent / evolving flight and airport conditions, de-escalate conflict, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve issues quickly; 12. Maintain accurate logs of activity, prepare gating activity reports and summaries including gate and hardstand assignment logs (if so assigned), common use gate assignment, incident reports and on-time performance monitoring and reporting; 13. Perform evaluations of airline operations to ensure all applicable operating procedures and joint agreements are observed, regularly meet with stakeholders to address issues; 14. Coordinate with LAXTEC staff and vendors to review and advise on maintenance schedules, coordinate gate closure requests with LAWA for maintenance or other purposes; 15. Escalate conflicts and other matters to the Director of Terminal Operations, LAWA, or emergency services as appropriate; 16. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding Gating / Dispatch Staff and ARCC Staff; 17. Train staff on all software, including but not limited to Flight Radar, OAG, AMS6, PDC Score, Aerobaun, Maximo, Veoci, etc. 18. Provide cross training for LAXTEC team members, as part of the business continuity program; 19. Attend internal meetings and trainings as requested or required; 20. Follow all applicable LAWA rules and regulations, terminal SOPs, and ARCC bulletins; 21. Ensure full compliance with the LAX GATE USE PROTOCOLS as outlined in LAWA’s Rules and Regulations. The Gating Center will be staffed continuously, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The ARCC will be staffed 19 hours daily. The Senior Gating Operations Manager will ensure that all staff observe and obey all ethical and legal obligations entrusted in the position. KEY DELIVERABLES The Senior Gating Operations Manager will serve a mission-critical function within the operation. In addition to the duties outlined above, the Senior Gating Operations Manager will be accountable for the following deliverables: 1. Staffing plan and schedules for the Gating and Dispatch Center and ARCC. 2. Gating and Dispatch Standard Operating Procedures covering asset assignment, communication, conflict resolution, maintenance scheduling, and other areas. 3. ARCC Standard Operating Procedures, covering communication, documentation, incident investigation, etc. 4. Baseline schedules for assigned common use assets. 5. Daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports. 6. Detailed incident and incident reports. Requirements PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, the selected individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
