SENIOR GENERAL ACCOUNTANT - JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Senior General accountant coordinates, performs and oversees all daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant regulations and internal controls. This role involves full cycle accounting, posting journal entries, preparing financial reports, and assisting with audits and month-end/year-end closings.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience with full cycle general accounting functions
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Business Central) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the daily activities of the accounting (e.g., accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, general ledger, intercompany transactions)
  • Prepare and post journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, financial reports
  • Prepare and review monthly Project Profit and Loss (P&L) accounts
  • Ensure all costs and revenue are recorded correctly by project in respective departments
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of project P&L by investigating and reporting variances based on the profitability of the project
  • Identify if the project is going above the budget and report to the manager
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closings and financial reporting processes
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
  • Act as a backup for other accounting team members during peak periods or absences, such as assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Support manager during Audit and taxation period
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial data
  • Identify any gaps and initiate process improvements with manager’s approval to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations
  • Provide support for special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis
