An established geotechnical and environmental consultancy is seeking a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their team based in Northamptonshire. This is a permanent, full-time position offering the opportunity to lead and manage complex ground investigation and environmental assessment projects across a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, landfill, infrastructure, and industrial developments.
The successful candidate will take a senior role in project delivery, client liaison, and technical oversight. You will support and mentor junior staff, ensure quality standards across project stages, and be actively involved in producing high-quality interpretive reports and remediation strategies.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in geo-environmental or geotechnical engineering
  • Degree (BSc minimum) in Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, or a closely related subject
  • Proven track record in project management, reporting, and team leadership
  • Strong understanding of contaminated land assessment, remediation, and ground risk interpretation
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Confident working independently and within a collaborative team environment
Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee ground investigations, including scoping, fieldwork supervision, and project delivery
  • Prepare technical reports such as Phase I & II assessments, CMRAs, earthworks strategies, and remedial method statements
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution and compliance
  • Mentor and guide graduate and junior engineers, supporting their technical development
  • Review and interpret geotechnical and environmental data and contribute to commercial decision-making
  • Travel to sites across the UK as required, including occasional overnight stays
