POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Senior Geospatial Analyst is primarily responsible for processing and managing satellite data to support the creation and maintenance of high-fidelity visual database content. This role will also support new business efforts relating to geospatial asset acquisition including aerial, satellite, and elevation data. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Imagery Processing: Process satellite imagery including registration, orthorectification, pan sharpening, and tonal balance/enhancement. Data Evaluation: Assess current and emerging geospatial products for suitability; interface with vendors, assess government and open data sources to improve data quality and consistency Contract support: Contribute to proposals and data research; help to define geospatial strategies balancing coverage, quality, and cost. Support database content review meetings with end users, manage vendor coordination and acquisition schedules, and ensure data alignment with project requirements. Support transition of new programs from contract to start of production. Process Optimization: Contribute to methodology enhancements for efficiency and quality; support improvements involving both internal and third-party software. Data Review & Documentation: Evaluate and contribute to geospatial content and reference resources (e.g., site lists, program specifications, metadata and supporting workflow documentation) for accuracy and completeness. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION: Minimum 5 years in geospatial analysis, imagery processing, or a related field. Working knowledge of ArcGIS for map generation, shapefile processing, and visualization. Solid understanding of map projections and related geographic concepts. Familiarity with image acquisition from aircraft and drones. Experience with current commercial satellite and aerial sensors and collection platforms. Proficiency with Geographic Data formats including Geotiff, DSM/DTM, DOQQ, LAS, etc. Familiarity with GIS concepts and relational databases. Strong understanding of underlying hardware and software limits/processes as relating specifically to processing of large-scale raster images in a Windows environment. Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills and an eye for detail. Ability to clearly communicate, collaborate, and problem solve with other teammates. Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Excel and Word United States citizenship required due to restrictions on access to certain data. DESIRED COMPETENCIES: Desired experience with some or all of the following software packages: Leica Geosystems ERDAS Imagine Global Mapper ESRI ArcGIS Suite Socet GXP Geographic Imager/Photoshop Familiarity with scripting for data automation. Familiarity with XML and schema tools for structured data workflows. Experience with Adobe Photoshop as it relates to color enhancement and image editing/adjustments. Familiarity with photogrammetry Familiarity with Atlassian Jira for bug and project task tracking. Experience with UNIX and Linux environments.
