Job Description AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer and project manager to support mine tailings storage facility and heavy civil infrastructure design and analysis as part of the Mining group in Denver, Colorado. Job Summary/Responsibilities Provides project leadership in the areas of design, investigation, analysis, construction and operation of mining infrastructure and tailings storage facilities. Plans, directs, and supervises all operations included in a mid- to large, complex projects or several moderately sized projects with greater risk and complexity, and significant financial impact. Work with existing and potential clients to provide long-term solutions for rock mechanics designs, above and below ground mine infrastructure and supporting work for mine tailing facilities. Develop project proposals and work with mining business leader to support and grow ongoing initiatives in the mining group with emphasis on rock mechanics. Provide direction to and mentoring of technical staff in completing project tasks. Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work. May be responsible for Project teams that include 5 or more members often representing multiple disciplines including subcontractor(s). Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering project, focusing on the design and operations of mine infrastructure designs and tailings projects. Provide advice and consultation to client on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations. Provide project management leadership of cross disciplinary teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and scope. Qualifications Minimum Requirements BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred Qualifications Master’s OR PhD in Civil Engineering or related field of study 10+ years or more of relevant experience Demonstrated progressive experience in rock mechanics design, evaluation, construction monitoring and operations Demonstrated proficiency in geotechnical evaluations of tailings and soil materials (e.g., PSHA analysis, material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses), construction monitoring and operations Ability to serve as primary point of contact with the client and develop client relationships Familiarity with design reports, drawings and specifications Knowledge of standard geotechnical and hydrological software program and evaluations Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people Additional Information No relocation assistance associated with this position.
