Senior Geotechnical Engineer   Ma’aden Barrick Copper Company (MBCC)   Jabal Sayid Mine Site – Madinah Region, Saudi Arabia   Ma’aden Barrick Copper Company (MBCC) is seeking a motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mining team at the Jabal Sayid Mine Site in the Madinah region of Saudi Arabia.   The Mining Department is responsible for all planning, short, medium and long term is in place to ensure that the mine is able to meet its budget. This includes providing the mining contractor with all the necessary information to allow them to plan their crews manning, equipment numbers and daily schedule. Tracking of production over the relevant cycles (daily, weekly etc.) is also carried out to identify issues the will prevent targets being met. All work must be carried out to meet all relevant mining and reporting cycles.   Responsibilities: * Inspection and documentation of ground conditions and support installation quality in new development areas and existing mine workings.  * Check scaling program is in place and complied. * Install various geotechnical instrumentation where warranted.  * Maintain seismic system.  * Participate in short and long term mine planning and design to ensure adequate ground control has been included. * Annual updates of ground control management plan. * Conduct regular inspections as per GCMP, identify and plan rehabilitation work, maintain accurate records of ground conditions and quality of support. * Investigate and report ground related incidents such as falls of ground and draw action plant to correct them. * Produce annual budget for the department. * Upskilling and mentoring Geotechnical and Graduate Geotechnical engineers.  * Jabal Sayid Ground Management Plan is in place and up to date. * Geotechnical databases consistently updated.  * Ensure adequate QAQC of ground support systems are followed.   Technical * Undertake and document geotechnical assessments of all existing and new development areas. * Design and maintain up to date ground support standards. Ensure standards are adequate for the current ground conditions. * Ensure geotechnical data is collected and geotechnical block model updated.  * Calibrate numerical model.  * Liaise with Planning and Production Engineers to ensure optimal stope sequencing and designs. * Participate in ground control assessments for each stope. Determine optimal stope size, pillar dimensions through use of empirical, numerical and analytical methods.  * Reconcile stope performance to draw learnings and calibrate stability graphs/models as necessary.  * Routine assessment of mine seismic hazard.  * Liaise with Planning and Production Engineers to ensure optimal stope sequencing and designs. * Review and optimise geotechnical systems.  * All drill and blasting designs approved and activated as agreed. * Stope and development plans checked for ground stability and integrity. * Stope overbreak is within the accepted range. * Annual stope risk assessment and sequence review conducted.  * Models and empirical tools calibrated and available for use.   Qualification Requirements:   * Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering or Geomechanics * Member of an internationally recognized professional association   Experience and Skills Requirements:   * 7+ years relevant experience in underground hard rock mining, Geotechnical Engineering and Ground Control. * Experience in rockmass characterisation, numerical modelling, empirical assessments and ground support QA/QC. * Experience with mine design and mine planning software, such as Deswik or similar. * Experience with geotechnical software such as Unwedge, Dips, RS3, mXrap, Map3D, Leapfrog or similar. * Advance skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications, word processing and database applications    What We Can Offer You:   * A comprehensive compensation package including bonuses and site-specific benefits * The ability to make a difference and lasting impact * Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team * Opportunities to grow and learn with industry colleagues * Access to a variety of career opportunities across the organization   Please forward applications before: 08 July 026   We are committed to a safe work environment sending every person home safe and healthy every day and leaving a sustainable legacy on our host communities.   Thank you for your application, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
