Toronto Inspection Ltd., founded in 1996, is a medium sized consulting firm providing environmental, geotechnical, building science and hydrogeological services throughout Ontario. We are currently seeking a candidate to take on the role of a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in our construction materials and geotechnical engineering department. DESCRIPTION:

Toronto Inspection is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team of professionals to assist with our wide array of geotechnical projects, with a particular emphasis on Land Development (high rise developments and subdivisions), and Infrastructure projects. Our breadth of projects span across Ontario, from Windsor to Ottawa to Thunder Bay, with projects ranging in size from half an acre to over 500. You will be provided the opportunity to contribute to projects for various large public and private sector clients and to work with an industry leading team of highly skilled and experienced engineers and geoscientists.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University bachelors degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering. Graduate degree considered an asset.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant consulting engineering experience in Ontario.
  • Registration as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
  • Experience with shallow and deep foundation engineering and design, shoring evaluation and design, slope stability assessments, pavement engineering and groundwater control.
  • Experience with high rise developments, large scale subdivisions and retail plazas is a must.
  • Experience with various ground improvement techniques (aggregate piers, preloading, dynamic compaction, geosynthetics etc.) is a must.
  • Experience with pressuremeter testing and finite element analysis, including non-linear finite element modelling with time stepping, using industry standard software is considered an asset.
  • Experience with MTO projects and/or tunnelling projects is considered an asset.
  • Experience in forensic geotechnical engineering is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office and Gint.
  • Working knowledge of industry standard limit equilibrium slope stability software (Slope/W, Slide and/or FLAC).
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and effective interpersonal skills.
  • A vehicle with a valid Class G licence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of junior to intermediate engineers and technicians for the successful completion of a wide array of geotechnical engineering projects throughout Ontario.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior, intermediate and senior engineers and technicians.
  • Review geotechnical reports for various public and private sector clients.
  • Review slope stability assessments using industry standard limit equilibrium slope stability software.
  • Review proposals, attend project meetings, monitor budgets and assist with business development for the geotechnical engineering department and the firm as a whole.
