Job Description We are seeking a Senior Global Trade Compliance Manager to lead and enhance our global trade compliance function. This role is critical in minimising compliance risks, optimising duty costs, and enabling international growth. You will act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, overseeing customs, export controls, sanctions, and antiboycott compliance. In addition, you will drive digital transformation initiatives, including SAP GTS/TCM implementation, and lead a global network of Trade Compliance Officers. Key Responsibilities Strategy & Governance Develop and continuously improve the global trade compliance framework Align operational processes with corporate governance, ethics, and compliance standards Monitor geopolitical and regulatory changes, advising leadership on risks and mitigation strategies Lead strategy development and cross-functional execution of compliance initiatives Compliance Operations Act as subject matter expert on global trade compliance, particularly across EMEA Ensure adherence to export controls, sanctions, customs, and antiboycott regulations Oversee product classification, licensing, customs activity, screening, and record-keeping Conduct audits, investigations, and implement corrective actions Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely organisational response Tariff & Cost Optimisation Lead initiatives to reduce tariff exposure and duty spend Conduct tariff modelling, forecasting, and scenario planning Drive utilisation of free trade agreements and duty recovery programmes Digital & Process Transformation Lead implementation and optimisation of SAP GTS and other TCM systems Drive automation of classification, screening, and documentation processes Enhance governance of classification and country-of-origin data Partner with IT to improve system capabilities and compliance controls Risk Management & Assurance Assess and monitor trade compliance risk profile Ensure audit readiness and regulatory adherence across global operations Investigate potential compliance breaches and implement remediation actions Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership Lead and develop a global Trade Compliance network Provide training and capability-building across functions Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Commercial teams Influence senior stakeholders and support strategic decision-making Key Metrics for Success Compliance quality and audit accuracy (>98%) Reduction in duty spend and tariff exposure Free Trade Agreement utilisation rates Predictability and transparency of tariff costs Successful delivery of digital transformation projects (e.g., SAP GTS implementation) Qualifications Experience Required Significant experience in global trade compliance within an international organisation Deep knowledge of export/import controls, sanctions, customs, and global regulations Experience operating within complex global supply chains Proven track record in compliance programme development and implementation Experience with SAP ERP, SAP GTS, QAD, and other trade compliance systems Expertise in tariff management and cost optimisation strategies Strong experience in audits, investigations, and regulatory reporting Demonstrated leadership of global or large-scale programmes Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business actions Strong analytical and financial acumen Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) Fluent in English (additional languages are advantageous) Additional Information With colleagues stretching across the globe, we are proud of our diversity.
