We’re determined to make a difference and are proud to be an insurance company that goes well beyond coverages and policies. Working here means having every opportunity to achieve your goals – and to help others accomplish theirs, too. Join our team as we help shape the future.
The Hartford’s Enterprise Cloud Organization is looking for a Senior Cloud Solution Engineer to spearhead the transformation of its cloud operations. This role includes setting strategic directions for cloud engineering, designing modern architectures for multi-cloud deployments, evaluating future technical solutions, and assessing security risks. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in architecting cloud-first solutions, primarily within Google, and a strong understanding of AWS and/or Azure. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future direction of cloud engineering at The Hartford, drive transformation efforts, and present recommendations to various teams. The ideal candidate should be able to execute critical initiatives independently and mentor junior engineers.
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

  • Extensive experience in building scalable cloud solutions using emerging technologies like Generative AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics.

  • Proven ability to navigate a highly matrixed environment and work within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for interacting with all levels of management and staff.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Engineer and manage immutable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technology partners to support cloud transformation with a focus on security.
  • Develop and maintain technology standards, reference architecture blueprints, enterprise-level architecture decisions, and reusable engineering patterns.
  • Define and enforce standards, patterns, policies, and processes for GCP and multi-cloud product engineering.
  • Lead and participate in technology selection workshops and proof-of-concept projects.
