About the role In this specialist role, you’ll provide expert advice and high-level support to ensure Council and Committee processes run smoothly, meet legislative requirements, and uphold transparency and accountability. Working across complex governance frameworks, you’ll help drive best-practice policy, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organisation. Key responsibilities include: * Contribute to complex governance initiatives, developing and implementing solutions aligned with departmental strategy. * Provide expert advice to Councillors, Executive Leadership Team, and stakeholders on complex governance matters. * Coordinate all aspects of the Council business program, including forward planning, agenda and minutes preparation, meeting attendance, and tracking complex resolutions. * Oversee key governance processes such as petitions, Councillor informal meetings, and Notice of Motion registers, ensuring compliance with regulations and Governance Rules. * Undertake research and analysis to inform policy development and strengthen governance and quality assurance practices. * Deliver training and guidance on Doc Assembler to support high-quality Council reporting, including complex submissions. * Support governance projects and legislative obligations, including local government elections and statutory reporting requirements. * Provide secretariat support to the CEO Employment and Remuneration Committee, assisting the Executive Director Corporate Services. * Provide context and advice to the Executive and Senior Leadership teams on complex issues. * Provide context and advice to the Executive and Senior Leadership teams on complex issues. * Execute, monitor, and report on work progress against plans and budgets to ensure timely delivery in line with the relevant regulations and policies. About you To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in Business, Administration, Law and or some experience in the field in a comparable organisation. Essential Experience: * Experience in a similar position within a local, state, or federal government agency. * Strong knowledge of governance administration and the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation. * Proven interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders. * Sound problem-solving and stakeholder management capabilities, working effectively across diverse groups to deliver outcomes. * Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build alignment and gain support. * Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills. * Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, adapting to the needs of the task. * Experience preparing accurate minutes and formal documentation for publication, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro. * Confidence operating in public-facing environments, including Council meetings subject to public scrutiny.
