JOB OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a Senior Health Care Assistant to join our care home team. You’ll provide high-quality, person-centred care to our residents while also supporting and guiding care staff on shift. Working alongside the senior team, you’ll help ensure care plans are followed, dignity and respect are always maintained, and our residents feel safe, supported, and valued. This is a great opportunity for an experienced HCA who wants to develop leadership skills and make a real difference in a homely, supportive environment.

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a care home or senior care environment is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience or leadership skills would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with residents, families, and team members.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents.
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, toileting, and mobility support.
  • Administer or assist with medication (if trained and authorised).
  • Support residents with meals, hydration, and nutritional needs.
  • Promote independence, dignity, and choice in all aspects of care.
  • Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any changes or concerns to senior staff.
  • Accurately record and update care notes, charts, and reports.
  • Lead shifts, allocate tasks, and oversee junior care staff.
  • Mentor, support, and provide guidance to new or less experienced colleagues.
  • Ensure compliance with care plans, company policies, and CQC standards.
  • Liaise with nurses, managers, families, and external professionals when required.
  • Assist in organising and supporting residents’ activities and social engagement.
  • Contribute to a safe, clean, and welcoming care home environment.
