JOB PURPOSE:
To monitor and assist in the development of care and support staff.
To work as part of a team ensuring that standards of care and support are maintained to a professional level and are meeting the service users’ individual needs
To monitor and spot check the care and support workers in the course of their duties
To mentor, support, and shadow new care / support workers during their probationary period and ongoing thereafter
To assess work-based competence leading to satisfactory completion of the required induction standards for new care / support workers
Senior care / support worker will be required to vary their hours of work to enable them to
attain their objectives
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In general, it is the duty of the post holder to undertake all care work with the sensitivity
required to provide services in a way, which will preserve the dignity, privacy, choice,
independence, fulfilment and rights of the service user and his/her usual carer/members of
family.
To act at all times in accordance with PBL Care’s code of conduct and the Standards of the General Social Care Council
To attend to the personal needs of the service user as agreed with the manager, and as detailed in the service user’s care plan and to carry out all work in accordance with Company policies and procedures
To create and maintain good communication with service users including those who may have some degree of communication difficulties
To be responsible for a team of care / support workers
Assist the field supervisor in implementing the quality assurance initiatives to monitor and improve the quality of care offered by the company
Take part in training and development sessions
Contribute to the maintenance of health and safety by reporting any unsafe practices or situations to line manager
Report defective equipment to supervisor
Report any accidents / incidents in accordance with PBL Care’s policies
To make and maintain effective working relationships with service users
To develop good communication links with the usual carer or family member in the service user’s home.
To ensure that the service provided is of a high standard and maintains service users and carers routines and allocated times, therefore not disrupting their normal pattern of living.
To report any changes in the service user’s circumstances, as soon as practicable, to the manager.
To attend service users reviews as required.
When relieving other care workers, to ensure that services delivered are in accordance with the service users agreed care plan.
To ensure that service users receive the necessary support, both socially and emotionally, in a way that is culturally and ethnically sensitive, and reflects the service users’ needs in relation to their age, gender, sexuality, social class, disability, or religious belief.
To maintain service user records in ac accordance with PBL Care’s established procedure.
