We’re seeking an experienced Senior engineer ready to take the next step in their career to help design and deliver innovative traffic engineering, active travel, public transport priority, and urban realm projects across Greater Manchester and beyond. Here’s what we’re looking for: As a Senior Engineer you’ll take a leading role in the development of scheme solutions from concept through to detailed design and implementation. You’ll manage technical outputs, mentor staff, directly engage with Clients, and take responsibility for the successful delivery of high-quality outputs. Key responsibilities and requirements: Lead the design and delivery of general traffic engineering, active travel, public transport priority, and urban realm schemes. Prepare and review technical outputs including drawings, reports, and specifications. Ensure all work complies with project briefs, design standards, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within AECOM and with external partners. Delegate and coordinate work among graduates and technicians, supporting their technical development. Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Champion Health & Safety best practices and discharge CDM responsibilities. Report regularly to the Principal Engineer or Project Manager on project progress, risks, and mitigation measures. About You Proven experience in scoping, preliminary, and detailed design of active travel and traffic engineering schemes. Strong technical knowledge of design elements including drainage, junctions, and carriageway improvements. Familiarity with relevant design standards such as TSRGD, Manual for Streets, DMRB, and the Traffic Signs Manual. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite. A collaborative mindset with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
