Description

AltaSteel is seeking a highly motivated and detail-orientated and experienced professional to join our dedicated Human Resources team as a Senior HR Business Partner. This is a key role that supports both strategic initiatives and day-to-day HR operations within a dynamic steel manufacturing environment. Reporting directly to the VP, HR & Administration, the Senior HR Business Partner will act as a trusted advisor to management and employees, driving HR excellence across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, or a related field
  • 5-8 years of demonstrated professional experience in Human Resources
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Experience working in a unionized environment considered an asset
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask while working effectively independently and in collaboration with others in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion and sound judgement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Responsibilities
  • Provide expertise in all areas of HR; including benefits, pension, compensation, performance management, recruitment, onboarding and disability management
  • Support managers by advising, coordinating, coaching and providing recommendations on a variety of human resource related functions
  • Collaborate with department leaders to forecast staffing needs and develop workforce plans
  • Analyze workforce metrics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Develop new or improve existing HR strategies, policies, procedures and practices
  • Facilitate investigations as required
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies
  • Frequent onsite plant visits to provide HR support to operations
  • Other administrative duties as required
