Description
Closing Date 15/12/2025 Senior HR Business Partner – Water Location: Worthing Permanent – 37 hours per week Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits Southern Water is transforming — and we’re looking for a dynamic, strategic Senior HR Business Partner to help lead that change from the inside out. As a Senior HR Business Partner, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders within the Water directorate, driving leadership impact, team performance, and delivery of the People Plan. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our culture, strengthening succession and skills, and embedding accountability across the organisation. This is a high-profile role for someone who thrives on influence, insight, and impact. Strategic Partnering: Collaborate with senior leaders to deliver the People Plan, ensuring alignment with business goals and performance metrics. Performance Alignment: Ensure people priorities directly support delivery of safety, service, and cost outcomes. Workforce Planning: Own the strategic workforce plan for your area, developing buy/build strategies to ensure the right talent is in place — at the right time and cost. Leadership Coaching: Challenge and support leaders to raise capability, role-model expectations, and embed leadership standards. Team Effectiveness: Drive team performance through targeted interventions and development strategies. Culture Activation: Lead cultural change programmes, embedding frameworks and enabling new ways of working. Risk Anticipation: Identify workforce risks, succession gaps, and future skills needs — and work with Talent and OE to address them. Succession Strengthening: Ensure robust pipelines are in place for critical roles. Change Enablement: Guide leaders through organisational change, providing practical solutions that support transformation. People Team Integration: Represent the full People Team offer in the business, connecting leaders and colleagues with expertise in talent, reward, capability, OE, and safety. Insight-Driven Decisions: Use people data and analytics to anticipate risks, track progress, and influence leadership decisions. To be considered for this role you will be a strategic influencer with deep experience in partnering with senior leaders. You will bring a sharp understanding of organisational dynamics, a proactive mindset, and a passion for unlocking leadership potential. You will be confident navigating complexity, driving change, and delivering measurable impact. We’re more than a utility — we’re a purpose-led organisation committed to sustainability, innovation, and community impact. Join us and help shape a high-performing, future-ready workforce that delivers for our customers and our environment. Our purpose is big. Our impact is huge. And we know that every single one of us has the power, through our actions, to positively change society and the environment for good. It’s why careers with us have real meaning. Because, if you’re driven and ambitious, we can offer you huge opportunities for personal growth, professional development and constant innovation. Forever evolving. Forever focused on doing the right thing, we empower and encourage everyone to play to their strengths and to help us shape a fair and positive future for all. We believe in Water for Life. If you do too, Dive Right In. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, because delivering water for life is our core purpose. To achieve this, we need 24/7 support in place to resolve incidents quickly and efficiently. All our employees understand the importance of out-of-hours incident support – because when problems appear, fixing them is our top priority. That’s why our people join together and support when and however needed to make sure our customers get the service they deserve. Joining the Southern Water family means you’ll become part of our incident support team. During your interview, your manager will speak to you about any incident support rotas that apply to your position. Does this opportunity excite you but you’re not 100% sure if you meet all the requirements for the role? Or are you concerned that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t possible given your personal circumstances? Whilst we can’t accommodate every flexible working request, we’ll try to find a practical solution. So why not engage with us and find out more about this role?
