Goodwill Northern Michigan is seeking a Senior HR Generalist who enjoys hands-on HR work and being a trusted, go-to resource for managers and employees across a multi-site organization. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this role supports day-to-day HR operations while helping ensure consistency, compliance, and a positive employee experience. Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to managers and employees Handle employee relations matters, including investigations and corrective action support Administer employee benefits and coordinate annual open enrollment in partnership with Benefit Broker Oversee new employee onboarding and orientation activities Develop and deliver clear HR communications Develop and assist with employee and manager training Administer Leaves of Absence and FMLA; support ADA accommodations Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in the HCM/HRIS system Support audits, unemployment claims, and compliance documentation Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and workflows Assist with HR projects and initiatives, contributing to organizational objectives Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices Excellent communication, judgment, and relationship-building skills HRIS/HCM experience required (Paylocity a plus) PHR/SPHR certification preferred Why Join Us Make a meaningful impact every day Support a mission-driven, people-focused nonprofit Work in a fast-paced role where no two days are the same Physical Requirements Prolonged computer work; occasional lifting up to 15 lbs; ability to travel between organizational sites.
