Western Energy Services is hiring a Senior HSE Advisor to join our team in our Calgary location!
Western Energy Services Corp. (Corporate) is an oilfield service company which provides contract drilling services through Horizon Drilling in Canada and Stoneham Drilling Corporation in the United States. In addition, Western provides well servicing through Eagle Well Servicing in Canada, and provides rental services through Aero Rental Services in Canada.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety and Environment ("HSE"), the Senior HSE Advisor will provide support and services relating to practice and policy development, updates, and training, as well as regulatory reporting, incident documentation, statistics, and corrective action tracking, and analyzing incident and hazard management data from Western’s divisional incident reporting and HSE systems. This role will also be the primary point of contact for HSE analytical and performance measurement data and provides administrative support to the HSE department in relation to training systems, document control, standardization and consistent implementation of HSE processes across our divisional business units.
The Senior HSE Advisor is energetic, polished, professional and independent, with excellent interpersonal skills. This person must be highly organized, with excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • 8-10 years related administrative experience.
  • Diploma or degree in a related field would be an asset.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be highly focused with exemplary accuracy and attention to detail skills.
  • Exceptional formatting skills.
  • Outstanding professional letter writing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience working with safety software an asset.
  • Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect and analyze data used for compiling company safety statistics/trends and maintains reports as required.
  • Monitor and analyze corporate HSE performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with divisional HSE Analysts to ensure ongoing data analytics are managed appropriately, provide training and support as required.
  • Assist the Marketing department in compiling and preparing HSE information for client tenders, proposals and other meetings as required.
  • With direction from HSE leadership, and in collaboration with cross-functional teams, working to develop and update corporate HSE policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of corporate safety initiatives and programs including corrective action plans designed to mitigate risk and enhance employee safety.
  • Assist HSE Superintendents in the execution of internal and COR Audits. Actively participate as a member of the Corporate Joint Worksite Health and Safety Committee (JWHSC), collaborate with other team members to identify hazards, recommend solutions, and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Support and champion proactive safety programs, such as the peer-to-peer behavioral observations (TLC), eCompliance, safety bulletin creation & distribution, audits & inspections, etc.
  • Liaison and participate in industry association committees as required (CAOEC, Energy Safety Canada, CAPP, EPAC, etc).
  • Working closely with HR, assist in the development and delivery of training programs to ensure that all employees are aware of, and adhere to, corporate HSE policies and procedures.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for the organizations risk mitigation software (eCompliance).
  • Maintain a centralized HSE document control system on corporate and shared network drives, ensuring that all documents are current and readily accessible.
  • Stay informed about changes in HSE regulations and best practices, update policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Input information and responsible for overall administrative management of all HSE client registry accounts. (ISNetworld, Complyworks, Avetta, etc).
  • Corporate oversight of WCTL case management.

HRIS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the transition of existing HSE forms from eCompliance to Dayforce, ensuring accuracy, functionality, and compliance.
  • Provide training and support to employees on the proper use of updated HSE forms within Dayforce.
  • Maintain and continuously improve HSE documentation, ensuring all forms remain up to date with industry standards and company policies.
