Position Summary The Senior Human Resources Generalist is an integral member of the People Operations team, serving as the primary HR representative for the Imperial Valley region. This position supports all HR functions for the Respite Program, residential facilities, and community service programs, ensuring alignment with organizational policies, compliance standards, and ICARE values Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Empathy. This is a fast-paced and high-volume role that requires strong HR expertise, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities. The Senior HR Generalist partners closely with the San Diego-based People Operations and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure a consistent, positive employee experience across the organization. What You'll Be Doing: Key Responsibilities Employee Relations & Compliance Serve as the primary HR point of contact for Imperial Valley employees and leadership. Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and progressive discipline. Conduct workplace investigations and prepare clear, compliant documentation. Partner with supervisors to ensure fair and consistent application of policies. Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws, including Title 17/22, California Labor Code, DDS, OSHA, and EEO. Ensure confidentiality and proper maintenance of personnel files and I-9/E-Verify documentation. Support for Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to support high-volume hiring needs, particularly for the Imperial Valley Respite Program. Facilitate local onboarding logistics, including completion of new hire documentation, background clearances, credential verification, and HRIS setup. Assist with orientation coordination to ensure a welcoming and compliant onboarding experience. Track onboarding progress and follow up on outstanding requirements in partnership with People Operations and Recruitment teams. HR Operations & Administration Process personnel actions including new hires, transfers, separations, and pay adjustments in HRIS (UKG/Paycom). Support Workers’ Compensation claims, leave of absence coordination, and compliance reporting. Generate HR reports and assist with audits, compliance reviews, and metric tracking. Partner with Payroll and Compliance to maintain accurate and timely employee data. Leadership & Collaboration Act as a local HR resource and coach for managers and supervisors in the Imperial Valley region. Collaborate with the San Diego People Operations team to ensure consistency and alignment across all locations. Participate in HR projects, policy development, and process improvement initiatives. Represent the People Operations department in regional meetings, trainings, and site visits. Qualifications What You'll Bring to the Role: Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; HR certification (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible HR generalist experience, preferably in nonprofit, healthcare, or human services settings. Strong knowledge of California labor and employment law, wage/hour compliance, ADA, FMLA, and EEO. Experience with employee relations, investigations, and compliance documentation. Proficiency in HRIS systems (UKG or Paycom preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
