Senior Human Resources Generalist   Job Summary:   Responsible for supporting the organization by delivering a broad range of human resources programs and services, including onboarding, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, training and development, employee relations, recruitment and compliance with employment laws. The role is also responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. Additionally, this position collects and analyzes internal and external data to benchmark HR practices against market standards and ensures ongoing compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations.   Responsibilities:   * Strategic problem‑solving, expert-level case management, program ownership, cross-functional leadership, and strong influence on HR policy and organizational effectiveness * Acts as a strategic advisor to leaders on complex HR issues and organizational dynamics, such as employee relations concerns, providing coaching and resolving team member issues regarding performance, conduct, and workplace culture concerns in a fair, timely manner * Leads major HR programs or initiatives and is accountable for outcomes * Identifies patterns and root causes across teams and recommends systemic solutions * Serves as the subject matter expert for compensation, benefits, compliance, payroll, or another specialty area * Ensures full ownership of payroll processing and resolves advanced discrepancies * Focuses on new hire experience through onboarding and orientation activities including benefits administration ensuring that new hire enrollments are completed, change of elections are updated with the vendor system ensuring compliance * Provide training and development in the areas of leadership and performance development initiatives including annual reviews, goals setting, succession planning and other development programs * Implementation of HR policies and process improvements ensuring accurate HR documentation and compliance with policies and regulatory standards * Monitor and process payroll on a bi-weekly schedule, which includes reviewing timesheets, hours worked, taxes, insurance, and team member information in connection with time management and administration accuracy * Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, status changes, and pay adjustments * Partner with Talent Acquisition to support hiring strategies and participate in candidate interviews * Respond to team member payroll inquiries with accuracy and professionalism * Coordinate with benefits administrators to ensure correct deductions for benefits, leaves, garnishments, and retirement plans. * Conducts routine audits of HR data to ensure records are maintained and handled to the required standards * Participates in HR projects/ initiatives * Drives the continuous optimization of processes   Required Education and Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology or a job-related field * Knowledge and skills typically acquired through 6+ years of experience with HR and payroll processing * Excellent organizational and communication skills * Proficiency with payroll software and MS Office, especially Excel * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities * Attention to detail and accuracy Preferred Education and Experience: * Master’s Degree in Business or similarly related field * Professional HR certifications are highly valued * Experience supporting EHS initiatives Travel: * 15-20% to locations across Alberta including Drayton Valley and Grande Prairie
