We operate five popular cafes in Marin and have a wholesale production division making flatbread crackers, cookies and crisps in Petaluma with products sold nationally by fine retailers throughout the US. BENEFITS Competitive pay Health, Dental, and Vision insurance Paid Time Off including Sick, Vacation, and Holidays Employee discounts 401(k) Retirement Plan with company matching funds POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Human Resources Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the HR department including recruitment, payroll, compensation, benefits, leave of absence, workers compensation, training, wage and hour compliance, employee relations, file management, legal claims, and company policy. This position supports the entire company which includes a wholesale manufacturing facility in Petaluma and five Cafes in Marin County. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Supervisory Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new HR staff. Oversees the daily workflow of the department. Provides constructive and timely feedback on performance. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policies. General Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future company needs, developing company culture, recruiting, retention, and succession planning. Promotes and fosters positive employee relations by encouraging open communication, trust, mutual respect and fun. Oversees payroll process to ensure accuracy and compliance. Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include developing job descriptions, recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required. Oversees onboarding process and background checks. Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive pay and benefit programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent. Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees. Promotes goal setting, regular check-ins, skills development, and formal evaluations with management to support career growth and business results. Oversees complex personnel situations requiring calm discernment and discretion including, employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, investigations, and legal claims. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Provide continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Oversees employee records and all HR data platforms including, HRIS/payroll, and benefits. Ensures accuracy and confidentiality. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS, Payroll, and talent management systems. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. A minimum of 5 years of human resource management experience.
