THE OPPORTUNITY:

Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Hydrogeologist to our Solid Waste team based in Calgary or Edmonton, AB.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15+ years of hydrogeology-related experience.
  • Consulting experience preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or geosciences (a Master’s degree is preferred).
  • Professional registration with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of Alberta (APEGA), or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with provincial regulations, combined with a willingness and aptitude for project management and business development.
  • Strong work experience on field-based investigations in physical hydrogeology, groundwater supply, and hydrogeological assessments.
  • Demonstrated competency in soil, geotechnical soil, rock sampling, core logging, drilling, test pitting, well installations, water quality sampling and hydraulic response tests (e.g., slug, pumping, and packer testing).
  • Groundwater analysis using AquiferTest or AQTESOLV.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) combined with willingness to work as part of a group.
  • Occasional travel may be required in this position, and candidates must be prepared to undertake site visits.
  • Mentor team members in the office and field.
  • Experience with numerical modeling using Modflow and FeFlow will be considered as an asset.
  • Installation of water supply and observation wells.
  • Execution of aquifer testing programs (as per the regulatory requirements for obtaining groundwater diversion licenses) for clients.
Responsibilities
  • Design field investigation programs, collect and analyze field data, communicate and coordinate with both clients and contractors.
  • Oversee and provide technical guidance related to borehole logging, installation, and maintenance of groundwater wells, hydraulic well testing, and surface and groundwater sampling.
  • Prepare and review technical reports.
  • Build the business through proposal writing and industry contacts.
  • Integrate information from geological and hydrogeological data visualization, and conceptual and numerical groundwater models, to meet client and project needs.
  • Assist in managing work schedules, controlling budgets working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Supervise and mentor junior and intermediate staff.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.
