Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Technical Services team at Sino Iron, Cape Preston. Reporting to the Superintendent Geotech and Hydrogeology, this is a hands-on technical role where you will take ownership of groundwater modelling and dewatering strategies that directly support safe and efficient mining operations. You’ll be working across a fully integrated operation, where hydrogeology plays a critical role in mine planning, geotechnical performance, and long-term water management. What makes this role different * Work across a large, complex dewatering network supporting a major magnetite operation * Influence decisions across mining, geotechnical, and closure planning teams * Exposure to site-wide water systems including pit dewatering, TSF, and water balance management * Opportunity to mentor and shape the capability of the hydrogeology function. Key responsibilities * Own and optimise groundwater and pore pressure models to support mine planning and slope stability * Design and drive pit dewatering and depressurisation strategies across the operation * Provide critical inputs into geotechnical, mining, and closure planning decisions * Support approvals and licensing processes with accurate groundwater modelling and reporting * Manage groundwater and surface water monitoring programs and compliance requirements * Lead field investigations including dewatering, water supply, and water quality assessments * Mentor and guide junior hydrogeologists and field teams About you * Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering or related discipline * Strong experience in groundwater modelling within an open pit mining environment * Experience with modelling and data tools such as FEFLOW, MINEDW, HEC-RAS or similar * Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into practical mining outcomes * Experience supporting approvals, licensing, and environmental compliance * Strong stakeholder engagement skills across technical teams * Current manual driver’s licence What we offer * Competitive salary package with 12% super paid on all hours * Permanent role offering long-term career stability * Career development and technical progression opportunities * Company-funded life and salary continuance insurance * Salary packaging options including novated leasing * Access to Alliance Airlines Lounge * Modern village facilities including gym, pool, sports courts, and recreation areas About us CITIC Pacific Mining (CPM) operates Sino Iron, Australia’s largest magnetite operation located on the Pilbara coast.
