Description
EHS Support is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist with experience as a consultant to support our growing remediation service line. The primary responsibilities of this role will focus on applying strategic and technical expertise on a variety of projects across the United States. Specific responsibilities may include: Provide strategic direction for both technical and regulatory aspects of investigation and remediation projects to move sites toward closure. Lead the development of CSMs (both abbreviated and comprehensive), identify key data gaps, and guide overall site strategy. This includes outlining, authoring, and coordinating CSM development with other technical staff. Review technical reports prepared by internal staff and external consultants; collaborate closely to support field programs and reporting activities. Work with outside legal counsel to develop technical deliverables related to litigation, regulatory negotiations, or PRP matters. Lead and/or support the development of workplans and technical reports, serving as the primary driver of scope, schedule, and technical approach. Coordinate with EHS Support resource managers to build and lead project teams while acting as technical lead. Perform advanced data analysis, including assessment of complex environmental datasets to develop observations, conclusions, and defensible recommendations. Produce high-quality technical writing and provide clear written and verbal communication of findings, strategies, and recommendations. Develop and deliver presentations to internal teams, clients, and regulators to communicate project status, findings, and paths forward. Lead development of sampling and analysis plans, including innovative field and analytical programs to support project and client objectives. General Expectations of the Technical Role Travel, as needed, within North America, based on client and project requirements. Interest in and ability to travel out of state and overnight for meetings, site visits, and initiation of complex field programs. Demonstrate strong attention to detail in technical deliverables, plans, and reports. Proactively insert yourself into projects when necessary to mitigate technical, regulatory, or project risks. Escalate risks appropriately to decision-makers and contribute to practical, technically sound solutions. Demonstrate interest in and ability to travel out of state and overnight for meetings, site visits, and initiation of complex field programs. Clients & Growth Engage directly with clients as required to support project execution and client satisfaction. Assist with marketing efforts for existing and new clients, including site visits and technical support for business development. Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and project summaries in alignment with Service Line goals. Participate in client meetings to support business development and relationship growth. Work with client managers to expand and strengthen relationships within your professional network. Support and participate in business development initiatives. Engage in continuous professional development through webinars, conferences, peer-reviewed publications, and internal knowledge sharing. Team & Culture Management Mentor and support mid-level and junior staff through technical guidance and professional development. Build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships across EHS Support. Become proficient in tools that support EHS Support’s virtual operating model (e.g., SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, OneNote). Communicate effectively with all members of project teams. Manage project scope, schedule, and budget as appropriate in your role as a technical lead, task manager, and/or project director. Collaborate across disciplines to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and effectively. Required Competencies & Key Experience Deep understanding of investigation and remediation project life cycles, particularly for chlorinated solvent sites, including soil, groundwater, vapor intrusion, risk assessment, and remediation. Strong knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, with the ability to apply regulatory frameworks strategically to achieve project and client objectives. Ability to rapidly become proficient in regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions and understand pathways to closure. Ability to synthesize complex site data (hydrogeology, VI, risk assessment, remediation) into clear summary reports, CSMs, and presentations. Strong technical writing, editing, and review capabilities. Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external project teams to manage scope, schedule, and regulatory commitments. Ability to break complex projects into discrete tasks, delegate effectively, and guide staff through completion. Strong client and regulator communication skills, with the ability to present and defend technical opinions. Demonstrated experience in hydrogeology and/or remedial design. Expertise working with complex environmental and geospatial datasets. Application of strategic thinking and innovative approaches in workplan development and data evaluation. Commitment to delivering high-quality work products and fostering a collaborative team environment. Willingness to mentor colleagues and support professional development. Comfortable working in a fully remote office environment. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Ability to drive decision-making under time or information constraints. Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree with 10 or more years of professional experience in geology, geochemistry, hydrogeology, or geological engineering, or Master’s or PhD with 8 or more years of applicable professional experience.
