About the role RFQ Opportunity 12 months Contract Canberra based Hybrid Job Opportunity: Senior ICT Advisor (Technical Advisory) Location: ACT (Australian Capital Territory) Working Arrangements: Hybrid Duration: 12 Months (Initial) + two 12-month extension options Estimated Start Date: Monday, 02 February 2026 Experience Level: Senior (EL1 equivalent) Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain/hold Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Capacity: Full-time (Up to 40 hours per week) Position Overview The Senior ICT Advisor will provide strategic leadership, specialist technology advice, and expert guidance to support a major digital transformation agenda. Working directly with senior executive leadership, this role identifies strategic priorities, analyses current challenges, and translates opportunities into actionable initiatives. The advisor will play a critical role in developing technology roadmaps and enabling whole-of-government coordination of technology investment, prioritisation, and digital capability uplift. Scope of Services | What You Will Do The Technical Advisor will be required to: Maturity Assessment: Undertake an environmental, capability, and maturity scan across the organization and prepare reports outlining key focus areas and investment priorities. Strategic Guidance: Provide technical oversight and reviews on technology direction, ensuring alignment with best-practice principles and strategic goals. Market Analysis: Lead analysis of business operating models and emerging technology trends to determine impacts on digital strategy and architecture. Roadmap Development: Create a technology roadmap identifying digital capabilities and platforms required to enhance efficiency and reduce risk. Enterprise Alignment: Support a sustainable, connected ecosystem of platforms and services, ensuring greater enterprise alignment and shared investments. Stakeholder Management: Navigate competing priorities in complex environments through expert consultation and negotiation with senior stakeholders. Capability Uplift: Mentor staff and facilitate on-the-job skills transfer to improve internal technical maturity. Required Professional & Technical Skills Leadership: Exceptional leadership capability and integrity, with a proven ability to influence executive stakeholders. Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences. Strategic Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of emerging technologies, digital roadmaps, capability plans, and government investment strategies. Business Acumen: Ability to align technology priorities with broader government strategic directions. Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to assess complex challenges and propose innovative, actionable solutions. Experience: Significant senior experience across federal, state, or private sector enterprise environments. Behavioural Capabilities High level of self-management and initiative. Adaptability and resilience in fast-paced, shifting environments. Ability to inspire vision and translate information into clear priorities.
