Description:

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Indigenous Relations Advisor on a temporary basis (term up to 13 months).
We are looking for a strategic thinker to join our External Relations team. The successful candidate will develop positive working relationships between Indigenous communities, Indigenous-led organizations, FCL and local Co-ops. This position is a remote opportunity and will be based in Alberta.

WHO YOU ARE:

You are looking for a career in Indigenous Relations and:

  • Have 6-9 years of experience in business/economic development and relationship management.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in communications, business, Indigenous studies or related field (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Have a strong understanding of systemic issues faced by Indigenous communities, reconciliation, inclusion, equity, and Indigenous governance structures.
  • Have excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Use experience with Indigenous communities and knowledge of local context and sensitivities to build meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Provide guidance and advice on best practices for relationship building to local Co-op leadership and FCL subject matter experts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous leaders to contribute to identifying and supporting business to business relationships.
  • Take initiative to identify opportunities by looking at the bigger picture and providing strategies to identify and engage in successful relationships.
  • Work with the Manager, Indigenous Relations, Diversity & Inclusion, Home Office and Zone HR to identify knowledge gaps within the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS).
  • Approximate travel up to 50%.
    Who you’ll work with:
    You will partner with other functions within the Co-op & External Relations business unit, collaborate across the organization with various teams, and work closely with Indigenous communities and local Co-op leadership.
