WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are seeking an experienced Senior Indirect Tax Professional to take ownership of all VAT-related matters, with a strong Luxembourg and international focus. The role will manage the in-house VAT function following the successful insourcing of VAT activities for over 120 Luxembourg based companies holding assets abroad, as well as 20 Luxembourg holding companies and 20 Dutch BVs. The position will play a key role in finalizing and stabilizing the VAT module implementation, ensuring robust VAT compliance, and further strengthening VAT processes, policies, SOPs, and governance across multiple jurisdictions. SOME OF THE INTERESTING CHALLENGES AHEAD OF YOU Compliance & Reporting Assume full ownership of the preparation, execution, review, and filing of VAT compliance for Luxembourg and Dutch entities, including periodic and annual VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat declarations, and other statutory filings Lead and coordinate VAT compliance for UK entities, managing external advisors as required and ensuring adherence to internal standards and group policies Ensure the timely, accurate, and compliant submission of all VAT filings and related payments across jurisdictions Lead VAT audits, tax authority enquiries, and inspections end-to-end, ensuring effective resolution and risk mitigation Act as the designated VAT owner and subject-matter expert Serve as the primary internal and external point of contact for all VAT related matters, including interactions with tax authorities, external advisors, and suppliers Ensure VAT records are accurate, complete, and fully reconciled with tax authority statements Manage VAT registrations and deregistrations with relevant tax authorities Prepare, manage, and monitor VAT refund claims, including domestic and cross-border EU VAT recovery Identify opportunities to optimize VAT positions, reduce VAT leakage, improve cash-flow efficiency, and accelerate VAT recovery timelines Systems & VAT Module Finalization Finalize, stabilize, and enhance the VAT module Ensure accurate VAT determination, postings, and reporting across all entities and jurisdictions Partner closely with Finance and IT to resolve system issues, improve automation, and enhance data quality Design and implement robust VAT control frameworks embedded within systems and processes Ensure the insourced VAT operating model is fully embedded, efficient, scalable, and aligned with business growth Ensure ongoing alignment between VAT requirements, operational processes, and system configurations Processes, Policies & Governance Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive VAT policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) Strengthen VAT governance, internal controls, and audit-ready documentation Drive standardization and best practices across VAT processes, entities, and jurisdictions Deliver internal VAT training and awareness programs for finance and operational teams Establish and maintain robust control, review, and approval frameworks Identify, assess, and remediate VAT risks, control gaps, and process inefficiencies Cross-Functional Collaboration & Business Partnering Act as a trusted VAT business partner to Finance, Asset Management, Property Management, M&A, and Corporate functions Support post-acquisition integration from a VAT compliance, systems, and process perspective Provide clear, practical VAT guidance to business stakeholders Design and implement dashboards, planning tools, and reporting solutions to enhance visibility and operational efficiency Design, implement tools and processes to facilitate accurate and efficient data exchange across countries Build and strengthen in-house VAT and governance expertise through structured training and continuous knowledge development WHAT YOU NEED TO SHINE IN THIS ROLE Technical Skills & Experience 5-7 + years of experience in indirect tax / VAT in an international environment Strong hands-on experience with Luxembourg VAT and EU VAT rules Proven experience managing high-volume VAT compliance and in-house VAT operations Experience with ERP systems, Yardi is a plus Personal Attributes Strong ownership and accountability mindset Process-oriented, structured, and detail-focused Able to operate independently in a complex multi-entity environment Strong communication skills with non-tax stakeholders Fluent in English (German is an advantage) WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN US These are some of the benefits we offer: Stability of an international company (one of the leading industrial real estate developers on the European market).
