    The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking 2X Industry Senior Officer - Kitchen, to provide a critical role within Custodial Operations / Corrections Victoria.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualification or experience relevant to the food service industry would be desirable.
  • The successful applicant will be required to complete Prison Officer Pre Service Training on commencement if not previously completed.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Prison Industry Officers are responsible for the management and delivery of specific functions within a prisoner industry or service industry under the guidance of a Prison Industry Supervisor. The role requires leadership, maturity, sound judgement, confidence in decision making, with developed capabilities to coach, mentor and motivate prisoners, along with highly developed communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
All functional areas within the kitchen/catering portfolio operate as a vocational training environment. The Industry Supervisor supports Industry Officers to coach, mentor and motivate prisoners, placing emphasis upon individual offender management with a view to rehabilitation.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Supervise achievement of commercial production targets and customer expectations, develop and monitor the budget, procure goods and services; ensure security, Occupational Health and Safety and food safety compliance is adhered to.
  • Actively identify, refer, and support prisoners’ participation in integrated education into prisoner employment.
  • Deliver against production performance targets, industry requirements and Occupational Health and Safety, and food safety compliance.

  • A demonstrated up-to-date knowledge of modern industry techniques and the maintenance of industry equipment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of processes and procedures in accordance with the Prison Industries Management manual
