FACULTY OF SCIENCE OFFICE OF THE DEAN OF SCIENCE Senior Information Technology Officer / Information Technology Officer (25260497) The Office of the Dean of Science is seeking a highly motivated administrator to join its team as a Senior IT Officer (or IT Officer). The appointee will join the IT and Facilities Management Team to provide frontline support to the Office of the Dean of Science as well as a number of Departments and Centres of the Faculty. Responsibilities: IT/AV Acquisition, Support & Administration: Deliver frontline user support for IT and audiovisual services across all faculty facilities. Administer and maintain core systems (including servers, websites, door access controls, etc.) to ensure high availability. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to web development platforms; Event & Meeting Production: Provide technical solutions and support for live, hybrid, and virtual events, meetings, and conferences; Systems & Server Management: Perform administration for both Linux and Windows environments, including setup, backup, monitoring, and patching. Maintain computational servers for research computing; and Documentation & Asset Management: Document system procedures and manage hardware/software inventories. Support space, facilities and fixed asset management. The appointee may also attend to other duties as assigned. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline, with at least 4 years of relevant work experience; Proficient in administering Linux, Windows, NAS, and backup solutions; Strong skills in web technologies (PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, NodeJS, Express.js, MongoDB) and automation scripting (Bash, PHP, Python, R, PowerShell); Hands-on with O365, NodeJS, CMS (Strapi), server monitoring (Nagios), AV facilities, and video conferencing tools (Zoom, MS Teams); Skilled in providing end-user support for MS Windows, Mac OS, and Office365; Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua); A proactive problem-solver with strong analytical skills and attention to detail; An excellent communicator and collaborative team player who also works well independently, with a strong customer service mindset; and Self-motivated and eager to learn and adapt to new technologies. Candidates with less experience may be considered for the post of Information Technology Officer. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to attend a written test. The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
