Senior Infrastructure Engineer This role is a full-time opportunity to join the Local Peoples team permanently, with your first project supporting one of our Federal Government Clients. Local Peoples partners with government agencies to deliver robust ICT infrastructure and technical engineering solutions. Beyond this project, you would be contributing to impactful ICT initiatives that improve digital services, security, and system operations for agencies across Australia. About the first project: The initial engagement involves providing senior-level technical engineering expertise to manage and maintain the Government client's ICT platforms. You will work on infrastructure design, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of technical components including IBM ISVA, WebSphere Application Server (WAS), IBM MQ, and App Connect Enterprise (ACE). This role includes hybrid working arrangements across QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW, and SA, supporting strategic ICT operations and ensuring the resilience, security, and efficiency of agency systems. Responsibilities: Manage the design, installation, configuration, and operation of ICT system landscapes, transport processes, and client components. Provide technical support for project build, testing, and solution deployment activities. Configure and maintain non-functional platform capabilities including job scheduling, output management, email, archiving, technical security, and system connectivity. Liaise with infrastructure teams on hardware procurement and deployment. Maintain patches, support packages, and perform routine updates across technical layers. Oversee backups, high availability, and disaster recovery operations for ICT systems. Administer databases, execute data archiving, and forecast infrastructure growth. Perform problem management, root cause analysis, and technical troubleshooting. Support integration and connectivity testing with internal and external stakeholders. Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced colleagues. Contribute to ICT strategy, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Software Engineering Minimum 3 years’ experience working with IBM ISVA, WebSphere technologies, and/or Message Queue technologies Competent in coding/fault-finding in Java, JavaScript, Python, Ansible, XML, and XSLT Essential Criteria: Proven experience in ICT technical engineering, infrastructure management, and system maintenance Expert knowledge in Service-Oriented Architectures, Governance Frameworks, and Message Queue Manager Experience with integration technologies, OAuth/OIDC, SAML 2.0, MFA, MQ, ACE, and WAS Strong organisational and time management skills with ability to meet priorities and tight deadlines Residency and Clearance Must have Baseline Clearance or be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 Australian Citizen This role is open to hybrid working arrangements across QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW, and SA Who are Local Peoples?
