What’s the role? This role is a Senior Infrastructure Technical Lead (Teradata) at Westpac, responsible for leading the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-grade database solutions. The role drives the design, architecture, and implementation of PostgreSQL database solutions, including robust security controls that ensure compliance with organisational and industry standards. Working closely with application teams, architects, and stakeholders, the role delivers end-to-end solutions aligned with business objectives, while driving database performance tuning and optimisation across platforms. The position also stays current with emerging PostgreSQL technologies and industry trends to support strategic planning and continuous improvement. The Senior Infrastructure Technical Lead builds and enhances automation solutions using DevOps tools to streamline database operations and improve reliability. The role is responsible for creating and delivering presentations, documentation, and workshops for both technical and non-technical audiences, and acts as the subject matter expert and escalation point for complex database issues. This includes providing leadership during critical incidents to ensure timely, effective resolution and stable platform outcomes. What do I need? * Architecture & Design: Deep understanding of PostgreSQL database technology stack architecture, including infrastructure and storage including deployments in cloud providers like Azure and AWS * Database Security: Advanced knowledge of security best practices, encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements * Automation & DevOps: Expertise in scripting and tools like Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform or similar * Performance Tuning: Proficiency in using tools and settings for diagnosing and optimising databases * Secondary Skills: Exposure to PostgreSQL, Cosmos or other NoSQL databases (B-A) Preferred technical experience * Advanced SQL, Python and Shell development skills. * Engineering and holistic technology stack experience. * PostgreSQL certification is highly desirable but not mandatory. Non-Technical Skills * Exceptional communication and presentation skills for engaging with architects, app teams, and senior stakeholders. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines. * A collaborative mindset with the ability to inspire and mentor team members. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing risks and issues. * Familiarity with agile methodologies, including experience using Confluence and Jira Why join us?
