THE PERSON

We are looking for someone who is passionate about this space. Having previous experience in the same role, or a role of similar nature, your will obtain the following:

  • Background in Food Science / Food technology - knowledge of main food processes and their impact on food, final product.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross-functionally.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and agile environment.
  • Strong technical skills on product formulation, industrial processes, and product-process interactions.
  • Sound knowledge of new product development business process and systems.
  • Strong project management/organisation and leadership skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Reporting and documentation maintenance skills.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE

This role will have you contribute to the overall NPD strategy, leading and coordinating multiple concurrent NPD projects. This includes the development of new products (concept to launch), improvements to existing products and optimisation activities to deliver cost savings. Reporting to the Innovation Manager your main duties will include but not be limited to;

  • Partner with marketing, manufacturing, quality and procurement to coordinate projects from the feasibility stage through to launch, including developing timelines and designing to a target formulation cost
  • Identify and report on project risks and provide recommendations and solutions for mitigation activities.
  • Identify and improve on existing product range through renovation activities.
  • Identify and implement cost saving opportunities in product design and processes.
  • Collaborate and lead yield or quality improvements on-site.
  • Experimentation: leads bench, pilot and manufacturing technical trials and reports on findings.
  • Technological surveying: propose and test new processing equipment and new raw materials.
  • Maintain records and generate reports relating to development projects.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current food legislation for the category.
  • Other ad hoc duties as per directed.
