Senior Instructor (Research), Department of Medicine Entity: Aga Khan University Location: Karachi Introduction to the Aga Khan University: The Department of Medicine at The Aga Khan University Hospital, comprises of independent sections of Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Neurology, and Pulmonary & Critical Care. The department has over 70+ full-time Faculty with a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate education and research. Residency Programmes are offered in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Adult Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonary Medicine, Nephrology and Dermatology, as well as Fellowship Programmes in Clinical Neurophysiology & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism, Interventional Cardiology and Infectious Diseases. The Aga Khan University invites application for the position of Senior Instructor (Research) in the Department of Medicine. Key Responsibilities: The selected candidate will be responsible for: Providing statistical and methodological consultation for research projects within the Department of Medicine Supporting study design, development of data collection tools, and complex data analysis, including multilevel and hierarchical modelling Collaborating with clinicians, scientists, and technical teams to execute research projects effectively Analysing high-volume and complex datasets and producing research reports and manuscripts Contributing to grant writing, submissions, and follow-up for internal and external funding Assisting in the execution and management of funded research projects Building research capacity by training faculty, residents, and fellows in epidemiology and statistics Conducting workshops and academic sessions related to research methods Participating in departmental, national, and international research meetings and conferences Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation Required Qualifications and Experience: PhD or MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics or PhD / MSc in Statistics or Biostatistics with relevant research experience Relevant academic or industry experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, or clinical research Experience working in a healthcare or academic research setting will be an added advantage Skills and Competencies: Strong understanding of epidemiological and biostatistical concepts Ability to conceptualize research problems and apply appropriate analytical methods Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, and R Familiarity with REDCap and Microsoft Office Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams Commitment to research integrity, ethics, and quality Demonstrated ability or potential in grant writing and scholarly publications Comprehensive employment reference checks will be conducted.
