The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level. This is a grant-funded contractual position. Responsibilities You will be responsible to: provide clinical oversight for typhoid and paratyphi challenge studies, ensuring adherence to ethical and safety standards continuous engagement in new protocol development. Draft, review, and refine study protocols, informed consent processes, and safety monitoring plans train and supervise research staff and physicians in study procedures, participant care, and data collection liaise with hospital staff, ethics committees, national regulatory bodies, and international partners contribute to data analysis, interpretation, and manuscript development mentor junior faculty and research fellows, strengthening AKU’s capacity in clinical trials and challenge models contribute to concept notes, grant writing, and dissemination activities ensure participant safety and regulatory compliance in challenge studies timely and high-quality reporting to the Principal Investigator, funders, and regulatory authorities build strong collaborations to advance AKU’s research leadership in typhoid and paratyphi. Requirements You should have: MBBS degree with FCPS/PhD (or equivalent) in Paediatrics or Infectious Diseases from an HEC recognized or foreign reputable university/institution at least two years of post-training experience in a clinical and research setting, ideally in infectious diseases strong clinical acumen with commitment to participant safety and ethics proficiency in data management and analysis software (SPSS, STATA, R) ability to develop SOPs, oversee GCP-compliant trials, and monitor protocol adherence excellent team leadership, staff training, and mentoring skills strong written and oral communication for scientific reporting and publications willingness to travel to field sites and participate in international collaborations. Comprehensive employment reference checks will be conducted.

The Senior Instructor will provide clinical oversight for research studies, ensuring adherence to ethical and safety standards while training and supervising research staff.
